Flutter Apps for Conservation
& Remote Field Work
We build production Flutter apps for wildlife monitoring, conservation science, and field data collection in some of the most remote parts of Australia. Offline-first, running at national scale, and already in the hands of researchers and citizen scientists.
Our Flutter Work
National Koala Monitoring Program
We maintain three production Flutter apps (Koala Counter, Koala Spotter, and Feral Counter) as part of Australia's largest koala monitoring initiative. Researchers and citizen scientists use them across remote field conditions, so they're built offline-first to work in places with no connectivity.
nkmp.org.auSpottedKoala
A Flutter app built for the University of the Sunshine Coast as part of a high-tech koala tracking research project. We're working with USC to add Bluetooth-based koala detection, so the app can pick up real-time proximity alerts from solar-powered ear tags deployed across South East Queensland.
USC NewsSpaceCows: Feral Animal Management
Flutter apps built as part of the SpaceCows program for feral animal monitoring and management across northern Australia, including the Ferals Survey and Record Aerial Shooting apps. Delivered alongside NAILSMA, Telstra, Microsoft, and CSIRO.
Program Overview (PDF)Our Approach
Most of our Flutter work sits close to conservation science, Indigenous land management, and mobile field data collection. These are contexts where connectivity is poor, environments are hard on devices, and the app has to keep working anyway.
Every app we build is designed for that kind of use. That means offline-first data, careful battery and bandwidth use, interfaces that hold up in gloves and direct sunlight, and sync strategies that can survive days without a signal. The apps we ship end up in daily use by researchers and land managers, which is the bar we hold ourselves to.
